Lobster, Bacon, and Opus

It's odd to say it was a typical week when you work 16-18 hours a day, but still get to do some amazing things. It started off with lobster and brownies at home, then progressed to brunch at Sacramento's Bacon & Butter, followed by wine tasting at Bogle Vineyards. There was church at Bayside with a guest speaker from Duck Dynasty, Korie Robertson, a few long runs, and even a spur of the moment dinner with friends at the new Old Town Pizza in Roseville.

Napa also had its share of fun ... a trip to the magnificent Opus One Winery for a tasting and tour with the winemaker. Dinner at Siena to try a few of the new menu items, our new culinary team continues to amaze me. Lunch at Crush to try out the new wings (tasty), and even a little cocktail testing.

Roseville Galleria - Rebuilding Together

Just a quick post to show pictures of the newly reopened Roseville Galleria (as you may recall I helped break the news on Sunday ). Only 41 stores open today, although about 70 have permits that basically say they can open when they are ready.  A few more, including Banana Republic will be opening tomorrow.  In speaking with a sales associate at GAP, they confirmed my suspicions that the person that started the fire (okay "suspected" arsonist) did not come out wearing GAP clothing as he originally claimed.  It was most likely Anchor Blue or a similar store.  The mall did have a smell a little bit like smoke and cleaning products, but overall was clean and comfortable.  The wall that has been constructed to block off one section includes quotes that were written on the Galleria's Facebook page .

Although there were some amazing things presented at InterAct2 , a dessert at Bayside to celebrate 2009 and look ahead to 2010, a few stuck out with me in particular. Perspectives 2012 and Elevendy

Thursday was a day of business and networking. I started off at the Sacramento Convention Center hearing five amazing speakers, all with a different perspective at the Sacramento Metro Chamber's Perspectives 2012 . What did I learn from listening to Peter Sheahan , Arianna Huffington , Vicente Fox , Howie Long and Dick Cheney ? In a sentence, to continually innovate, ask questions and strive for change. Yes some focused on business, others on politics and their personal story, but it all broke down to looking at a situation from a new perspective and not settling for the status quo, even in the face of opposition. Perhaps the most inspirational quote of the day came from former President of Mexico, Vicente Fox ... "The American Dream is better termed a Dream of the Americas . We all share it." Arianna Huffington also had a good one, "Failure is not the opposite of success, it is a stepping stone to success." After Perspectives I headed back out to Rosevill...
