This weekend at the Bradley Lodge has been one filled with activity and relaxation. Friday night we arrived, ate some pizza and finished out the night with a game of dominoes. On Saturday my mom had a childhood friend come up to the lodge, while Cortney and I headed to the pool for some tanning, reading and swimming. Saturday evening we were off to Ironstone Vineyards to see Shane Dwight (although not a wedding singer, he and his band did play at my brother's wedding in 2004) and of course some awe inspiring fireworks, while drinking a few bottles of wine and playing Speed Scrabble.
Sunday Cortney and I headed to Big Trees State Park to see some of California's largest trees - she's a teacher, so it was a research trip, since the kids will be doing a unit on trees. When we came back to the Lodge from some relaxation time, Pinochle and of course more eating :-). To cap off the evening we looked at tons of pictures of weddings, events and previous 4th of July's.
Just a quick post to show pictures of the newly reopened Roseville Galleria (as you may recall I helped break the news on Sunday ). Only 41 stores open today, although about 70 have permits that basically say they can open when they are ready. A few more, including Banana Republic will be opening tomorrow. In speaking with a sales associate at GAP, they confirmed my suspicions that the person that started the fire (okay "suspected" arsonist) did not come out wearing GAP clothing as he originally claimed. It was most likely Anchor Blue or a similar store. The mall did have a smell a little bit like smoke and cleaning products, but overall was clean and comfortable. The wall that has been constructed to block off one section includes quotes that were written on the Galleria's Facebook page .
Thursday was a day of business and networking. I started off at the Sacramento Convention Center hearing five amazing speakers, all with a different perspective at the Sacramento Metro Chamber's Perspectives 2012 . What did I learn from listening to Peter Sheahan , Arianna Huffington , Vicente Fox , Howie Long and Dick Cheney ? In a sentence, to continually innovate, ask questions and strive for change. Yes some focused on business, others on politics and their personal story, but it all broke down to looking at a situation from a new perspective and not settling for the status quo, even in the face of opposition. Perhaps the most inspirational quote of the day came from former President of Mexico, Vicente Fox ... "The American Dream is better termed a Dream of the Americas . We all share it." Arianna Huffington also had a good one, "Failure is not the opposite of success, it is a stepping stone to success." After Perspectives I headed back out to Rosevill...

I had a fantastic time at Future Ford in Roseville tonight during the Food Truck Roundup . This weekly event brings together all of Sacramento's gourmet food trucks to a single place, allowing people like me to get a taste of what they have to offer. Since I had already had Mini Burger Truck ( see blog post ), I decided to try out three other trucks: Drewski's , Mama Kim's and Wicked'wich . All of the food was delicious. @MamaKimOnTheGo offers truly gourmet food, I had a fresh cream puff thanks to @YetAnotherSusan . @DrewskisHotRod and @WichOnWheels both make amazing sandwiches, @lttlewys and I split sandwiches so we could try both (Pastrami and Korean Beef).
